Mansfield Zoo {October}

I had the privilege to be a helper on a school excursion to Mansfield Zoo.  It is such a great zoo and so close to town.  It was so nice to spend the day with Louis and his friends, what a great bunch of kids!
I had not been on an excursion with Louis since 4 year old Kinder so you can imagine how happy we bother were that this worked out so well (finally!).

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo...

How about you, you, you?
We arrived...

We were greeted by this little fellow...

and were able to get up close and pat these dingoes...

We started to make our way around the zoo and visit with the deers...

camels...

and wallabies...

The whole group on the new dragon.

Such beautiful scenery...

Mr Alligator...

We then started to wander a little further around to make our way to some more deer...

Emu's, with brand new chicks only born that morning...AMAZING!

Can you see there are still 2 eggs that hadn't hatched yet?

And then on to my personal favourite...the lions.  Honestly they are just such amazing animals.  They are so big and strong and the noises and purr they make just makes your hair stand on end.  We were able to watch them get fed...

What a job hey?

They also have some alpacas and monkeys...

Where to next Louis?

These peacocks would have to be my favourite bird...those colours are so vibrant!!

We had such a great group of kids...

and such a fantastic day at this great country zoo!  A must see if you're ever in the area.

As much I sometimes miss those years of babies and toddlers, I'm loving these years of older boys which makes days like this possible.  We can have some fun and adventure without worrying about nap times and prams and breastfeeding.  I can leave the house without tears, leg clinging and the worst of all, mother guilt!

It really feels like the beginning of a new era, and whereas I once really feared that change, I'm now ready to embrace and make the most of it.
