Fun and frivolity

What a weekend!

My sister turned 40 yesterday and wanted to party like it was 1999!  So...we loaded the boys into the car and dropped them off at their Oma and Opa's for a sleepover.  They were super excited about this so we had the greatest of pleasure waving goodbye knowing they were as happy as we were!

Of course, as anyone that knows us can attest, we're not the most organised of people so we managed to arrive at my Mums house which is 1 1/2 hours away with about 15 minutes to get ready!!! In a record amount of time we managed to pull ourselves together and scrub up alright...

My spunky husband Michael and I

The beauty of staying at my Mums is that she was also taxi for the night!

Michael and I, who are not often seen together outside of our home were very excited to be having a night of fun and frivolity.  I may have overindulged in some cheap and nasty De Bortoli cask wine, however that sometimes is the price you pay when the invite says beer, wine and soft drink provided.

My sister Sharon and my gorgeous niece, Kelly and nephew, Luke

It was so much fun to see so many of our extended family and other faces that I haven't seen for so long.  There were so many laughs at times that I swear my cheeks are sore today!

Kisses for the birthday girl

I started the night sure that my super high heels would remain on my feet, that I would be one of those than can dance in them all night long, and then....the Nutbush.  Sorry, but it was game over.  I did attempt a couple more times to stand tall, but as many people know, once you have the comfort of no shoes it's hard to go back.
Speaking of my shoes...I've probably had them for a year and was waiting for an excuse to wear them!  Despite my sore feet afer a night of dancing (which I have from any heel) they really are comfortable especially for the height!!! My dress was Grace Hill from Ezibuy - first online purchase from them and I was really impressed actually.  Check it out on special today at http://www.ezibuy.com.au/womens-clothing/dresses/day-sun-dress/grace-hill-v-neck-dress-with-pleats-74912.shtm

Fast forward to the bliss of waking up at 10.30am this morning! Oh my goodness.  With 4 little boys this never happens!!  Not only that, we also awoke to my Mum cooking bacon and eggs!  My cousin had arrived with his beautiful family and we dragged our hungover selves out just in time for a good feed!

About lunchtime the pangs of missing my boys starting to hit however we had a few things to do before we headed home. (We now realise that every time we head down to the big smoke we have a list as long as our arm of items we want to purchase - when you only have a Foodworks and IGA in town it is a beautiful moment when you walk into that shopping centre and everything is layed out right before your eyes!! Oh Kmart and Target how I love thee)

The drive home seems to last forever, and as we drove up Michael's parents long country driveway I saw Dylan run up to the car!  He was so excited to see us!  Then Ethan running across the gravel in his bare feet...Oh to be back with my boys!!!  Oh how I love my boys!!! Shortly after Jayden and Louis were sighted also ready for big hugs.

We stayed a while and heard all of the stories and goings on of the last day and then headed home.  It was dark by then and the boys had hungry little bellies.  With 2 minutes to spare we caught the local general store and luckily there was still a whole lot of greasy food sitting in the bain marie.  The shops where we live are all closed by 7pm so you can't muck around!!

We arrived home and walked inside where Louis, who's 6, threw his hands up in the air and said "home, beautiful home" and proceeded to kiss the wall.  It was just the funniest thing to come out of his mouth and we all had a big laugh!!

It was then time for a really awful but oh so appreciated potato cake and dim sim dinner! (No mother of the year awards here!)

We had such a fun weekend, it really was a blast, but I'm also so grateful to be back home with my boys!
